Risk Assessment Data Visualization

Deloitte Digital | 3 months, Summer 2016 | Native Mobile

Overview

Alongside a Visual Designer and a Creative Director, we designed a mobile application to enable a client of Deloitte to view data that conveys risk of change adoption.

My Role

I was the lead UX designer on the project, creating interactive wireframes, user flows and a sitemap, as well as helping with animation.

Process

Overview

One thing I loved about this project was how closely myself and the visual designer collaborated. It is now something I look for in my projects. We gathered inspiration, shared it with each-other, and then brainstormed possible

We followed a relatively typical process: gathering inspiration, sketching, process flows, wireframes, in-person feedback and workshop, designing animation, and lastly design documentation.

Process Flows

There were two types of users we were concerned with: the admin (typically a Business Analyst at Deloitte), who would set up the project and import the data, and then the client who would recieve a link to view it. We were mostly concerned with the client experience, but we did need to consider the admin as well. As designers, we created the "best-case" experience, knowing that they would likely need to downscale and do whatever would be fastest to implement since the admins could be trained.

Wireframes

I created the wireframes in Axure, and also made simple versions of how it might animate between states to communicate my ideas to the product owner and visual designer. I made sure to test on device to assess how it might feel in this size.

Animation

In the above video, I helped put together how the design might animate between states of the final design created by the visual designer.

Documentation

We documented specifically the animations, since they were so important to the experience and so that they would not be missed when developed. We documented on which screen it occurred, the type of animation (On load, build out, on focus, etc), a description, a level of priority (from an experience standpoint), and an estimated level of effort. This helped the developers determine which to build out first, since we knew some might not make the first cut.

Results

The Deloitte director we were creating this for was able to present this at a major Deloitte conference, and was generally extremely happy with the outcome and our work.
